Being named the fastest-growing SD-WAN vendor in the latest “Omdia Market Share: Data Center Network Equipment Q1 2020” report, Fortinet has also announced and launched a new Secure SD-WAN appliance. According to the report, about 247% year-over-year growth has been noted in Fortinet’s SD-WAN revenue.
Additionally, between 1Q19 and 1Q20, Gartner’s market share data shows that Fortinet witnessed the highest revenue growth change in SD-WAN equipment market share worldwide. At present, the latest Gartner market share report states Fortinet as the second-highest vendor based on revenue for SD-WAN hardware worldwide for 1Q20. The same report also shows, based on the income for 1Q20, Fortinet is amongst the highest three vendors in worldwide market share for SD-WAN equipment.
Based on this market momentum, Fortinet broadcasts its ability to deliver SD-WAN anywhere, let that be home, any branch, or a cloud, it supports a variety of use cases, which also includes:
- Complex Fortune 1000 deployments – An integrated solution for security and optimization. It allows global wide area networks with dispersed branch offices to self-heal and boost capacity to prevent and resolve network impairments, such as congestion, latency, and packet losses. It provides application-centric delivery and unified end-to-end orchestration with automation to simplify operations and reduce installation, provision, and change management time and costs.
- Cloud-centric WAN – Accelerated cloud access with capabilities for cloud on-ramp to seamlessly connect overlay tunnels to multi-cloud. Internet is used as a primary source to access cloud workloads, Fortinet’s integrated advanced security provides secure access, automation, and visibility into cloud applications. This also allows SD-WAN between clouds and empowers enterprise IT to build a seamless cloud-to-cloud network and security architecture.
- Large scale, compact footprint – Integrated WAN edge, Wi-Fi, LTE, and security functions are used to connect end-users to critical applications over direct internet links securely.
This allows for reliable application access with intelligent traffic steering, failover, and consistent policy enforcement for compliance. With intuitive orchestration and zero-touch provisioning, replication of business policies at-scale across distributed branch offices is simplified.
“With the increase in work from home and adoption of multi-cloud, a truly effective SD-WAN solution must be able to be implemented anywhere. Fortinet’s dedication to SD-WAN innovation has resulted in the industry’s most extensive and secure SD-WAN solution, able to be deployed across the home, branch, campus, and multi-cloud. Fortinet’s continued positive trajectory in the SD-WAN market is a testament to our ability to deliver the best application experience and cost savings for our customers,” says John Maddison, Fortinet Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Products.
FortiGate 80F, a new Secure SD-WAN appliance, has also been introduced by Fortinet sponsored by Fortinet’s purpose-built SD-WAN ASIC in a desktop form factor that has a built-in bypass interface to deliver connectivity during planned or unplanned outages. It comes with built-in Wi-Fi or integrated POE for WAN edge and branch consolidation with an idea to support large scale, compact footprint deployments.
